FIRST STORY I EVER WROTE

I’ve just started a new page “Stories” where I’ll post pieces of my writing. Hopefully an excerpt from Thrill Seekers in the near future.

The first is “Harry“. I wrote it in 2001, my first attempt at writing a full length piece of something. I didn’t know quite what. Like most of my writing it’s a mix of memoir and fiction, mostly memoir in this case. It was part of the original collection of stories that Thrill Seekers was born from.

I still haven’t found “Harry”. His real name was David Maher. If anyone has seen or heard from him please let me know.

Though I think that if he was still around he’d have turned up by now. Perhaps you can trust priests after all.

If all that seems a bit cryptic it will make more sense after reading the story.

I’ve tried to make it so you can click on the links above but if that doesn’t work just go to the menu on the left and click on STORIES.

Hope you like it.

  1. Terrific story, Edwina. I hope he does turn up. Did you know that you can insert links into your text, so that one can click on the word “Stories” in the first line and be taken to that page of your site, or on “Harry” at the start of the next par so we can go straight to the story. In WordPress, you can insert a link by clicking on a little icon above the text that opens a little window where you insert teh address. (Is this called teaching your niece to suck eggs?)

    • Thanks Jonathan. Not sucking eggs. I don’t know the first thing about this stuff. How do I make al ink so my posts here go straight to my facebook page so I don’t have to do both all the time? And what is the address of my story page??
Lots of people have read Harry already! Can certainly see the attraction of blogging now. The pleasure of self-publishing and readers!!!

      • Hi Jonathan, Well I found the address and did the links but it won’t let me open them from here. What did I do wrong?
        love
        Edwina

      • Sorry, Edwina, I didn’t see this till just now.

I don’t know how to make your posts go straight to your facebook page. I know some people have an automatic thing. You know you can paste the address of a blog entry into the “Link” thingie on Facebook? That’s easier than retyping.

The reaon your loinks won’t open is that you have an extra at the start of each one. I’d probably be able to tell you how that happened if Iwas there, but not from this distance. If you can’t figure it out, you could call me and walk me thhrough your steps, and we might be able to spot the errot that way.

  2. Hi Jonathan. That’s proabably the best way. Once the holidays are over and I have some time, I’ll give you a call. Thanks for all your help and support with this.
    Love
